In fact you can push 2 Extra-Long Twin beds together to be the same size as an Eastern King, and this is exactly how the foundation of any King bed is made from pairing 2 twin bases (38" x 80") together to form a King base. One of the main reasons this is done, is so the foundations can easily fit up stairs and into small doorways.

Many people enjoy the versatility of a Dual King 76" x 80" (Also known as Dual Eastern King). This is 2 individual Extra-Long Twin beds side-by-side so that a King comforter can be placed over the top, allowing the bed will look like a traditional king bed; however underneath are 2 individual Extra-Long Twin beds so that each partner accomplish their individual comfort (in two separate beds) while sleeping together.
